I think capital punishment is acceptable and even necessary sometimes for a functioning state with sovereignty. Not even in the “I’m against it for everything except the worst of serial killers” way, more in the “if someone powerful attempts a coup on your government and fails, yeah man they kinda gotta go, nothing left to be done about it”
Like, for example, if you have a guy who was in power, and then got voted out of power, and then incited a riot in the halls of the legislature in an attempt to impede the peaceful transfer of power. That person’s gotta be made an example of, especially if it’s the first time in the history of your regime that anyone’s tried that.
My economic views lean left, but I’m more conservative on certain social issues. Political beliefs aren’t a package deal, and the left isn’t a monolith. Disagreeing with some left-wing positions doesn’t automatically make me a conservative. Address my actual beliefs instead of gatekeeping political labels.
what a fucking clown. trying to call yourself a leftist while perpetuating the oppression trans people face is genuine insane. no, you’re not a leftist, no matter how much you try and call yourself that; you’re a cowardly conservative who has just enough self awareness to know that your beliefs are dogshit and discriminatory, but at the same time not enough self awareness to change those beliefs, so instead you try to hide them and make them more “digestible”.
and it’s not about merely “disagreeing with some left-wing positions”, it’s about willingly adopting and perpetuating fundamental tenets of right-wing positions, being the “othering” and vilification of a perceived out-group that you dislike based on immutable traits. you don’t get to pick and choose whose rights you believe are valid, while trying to claim to be left-wing. we’re going to call out your bullshit when you try to do so.
