Hitler himself probably couldn’t stomach killing a kid— he couldn’t even stomach meat from animals. He built a bureaucracy to do the dirty work for him, so that the evil business of taking human lives was spread so thin among so many people that they hardly thought anything of it at all. It was a cruel and indifferent mechanism
