Why is SCOTUS allowed to legislate from the bench and violate the voting rights act?

Because the Trump was allowed to put in a bunch of politically-appointed judges. SCOTUS used to be a trusted symbol of justice but bad actors took advantage of the system and rigged it in favor of themselves and their causes

There is not one institutional difference between SCOTUS now and 25 years ago. None. This is how it’s always been. The last change was in 1869 with 9 justices. Lifetime appointments by the president has existed since the United States’ conception

Surely you must recognize the conservative justices are doing unprecedented amounts of legislating from the bench?

The system of appointment is flawed how it always has been. Mitch McConnell blocked the fuck out of any of Obama’s picks and approved the first Trump yes man

Unprecedented amounts? The court takes on approx. 20-40% less cases than they did 25 years ago

Like there’s a reason 2024 was such an important year for elections. Articles of impeachment on 2 justices means Trump is probably gonna get another 2 picks

The public’s trust in SCOTUS has probably waned. I don’t disagree that the system is totally fucked, sorry if my comment implied that. It’s not what I meant
