What makes you think I don’t love Iranians or Palestinians

You may very well love them. But modern American evangelical Christians, on average, don’t

Basically anyone who’s not a white man or “obedient enough” (ew) white woman

You base your opinion of an entire religion on the views of only some of its followers in a specific sect?

I mean the sect is the most powerful and important in our country (and arguably the world because even though catholics are the majority worldwide, evangelical protestants control the government of the country that rules the world)

Me? No, at least I try very hard not to. But average people? The average American? Yeah, they’re absolutely going to base their views on the most vocal/prominent voices of faith in our country. Which, at the present (thanks in part to the White House now having a “faith advisor”), is evangelicalism. Outside the country churches have their own issues separate from ours yes. But, as Donald glover once said: “this is America”

Also basing opinions of an entire group based on the views of a small subset of the group, often the most extreme, is pretty much the basis for all of humanities problems yeah. It’s bad I agree, but also pretty solidly defined in human nature

But we agree we shouldn’t do it, right?

Absolutely. But youd have a far better time convincing the masses the earth is flat than convincing them to stop acting that way. Best we can do is acknowledge the way things are, and use it to your benefit and the benefit of others, not as a detriment
