It’s combined dead and injured (enough to not be able to fight anymore). So if there are 600 casualties that could be 100 dead and 500 injured

omg injured beyond point of duty is still like a major injury with lifelong pain and consequences … let’s remember the suicide rate among vets too. some might come back alive but many have they’ve lost themselves out there well before they come home.

It’s also just people who can’t fight right now but given some medical care they can be back in a bit. Like a broken leg or treatable gunshot wound

Yeah war is just “grievous injury but you’re not quite dead so you’re a separate statistic”
