Anti-intellectualism has given people too much confidence on issues they know nothing about. You don’t know more about climate change than an environmental scientist, or more about disease than a virologist, or more about warfare than an actual soldier.

It’s anti-intellectualism and unlimited access to the internet and information they can’t understand the context of. It actually makes them more dumb because they think they are being enlightened, but it’s all useless junk in their heads piled up that they don’t really know how to process properly. They can repeat things though so they think they’re smart.

I believe a studied person who does research in a field is more credible than someone who isn't.

You got put in your place and thoroughly embarrassed by people who are smarter than you and you couldn’t handle it. Sit down kid, we’ve already been overly patient with you

If you have a tumor, would you rather a trained doctor or joe from the street corner to check you to determine if it is cancer?

No one trusts a single grifter in a field, the consensus of a field is based on verified and established facts.

But that doctor has the training that means they are more qualified to determine whether or not it is cancer. Joe does not have the knowledge to make an informed assessment.

Me when I ignore the fact that doctors have been proven to be racists and sexists by ignoring the symptoms of women and poc:

That’s important and is a problem but they’re still more trustworthy than Joe? I don’t see how that’s relevant. There being problems with doctors doesn’t mean Joe can be trusted to diagnose cancer.

There’s this thing called informed opinions. Where your opinion. Is informed. By facts. The people who can understand the evidence can form a more informed opinion than the people who cannot.

they're talking about whether a person educated and trained in a field is in a better position to determine something related to their field of study than some random Joe Shmoe and your response is "bUt mEdICAl RacIsM ExiSts" lmao yeah and i'm sure it would be so much better if we got our medical advice from Joe 🤣

*you* are arguing that #4 asked you rather simply if you'd rather a doctor or a random untrained person diagnose your tumor - which is clearly a discussion about whether or not a trained person is better qualified to make determinations related to their study, NOT whether or not their opinion is more ""valuable"" which is a nebulous, meaningless term to begin with

Its true that you shouldn’t blindly believe people just because they present themselves as an expert because people can lie about their background or spreading misinformation but that doesn’t mean never trust any experts
