The denunciation and detestation of billionaires is not because they’re wholly undeserving of any success, rather that their success is built on the back of exploitative collective labor, egomania masked under “philanthropy,” and a hoarding mindset

The recent wave of American billionaire dynasties have built their empires off of mass media and/or internet fame. These people have achieved such a large mass of wealth in such a short period of time that they’ve met every possible need and everything they do past that point is done out of greed. We are seeing a uniquely American form of greed that this will be its own unique point in world history.

A thousand percent agreed. The philanthropy mask that I mentioned is just insane grandstanding (for lack of a better term). Charitable donations, when you have more money than you know what to do with, serve the purpose of boosting public perception and fueling self-righteousness (virtue signaling, again for lack of a better term). I think billionaires get off on the ego boost/flattery from grateful recipients of donations rather than realizing the actual mf purpose and benefit of charitability
