What do you think is the root problem? Guns or just mental health in general??

Neither. It’s stability. Without stability it makes all issues worse, including mental health. The solution isn’t a simple “ban all guns” or “better mental health treatment”. It’s to improve societies access to all forms of care. Healthcare, mental included, food, education, jobs, housing, childcare, work life balance, access to hobbies and friends and family. There’s no one problem. And thus no one solution

It’s more mental health issues than the guns themselves, but if I could be forward might I argue we aren’t doing enough to recognize said mental health issues/ignoring obvious red flags in gun owners

“It’s mental health not guns” is kind of used as a cop out to not do anything about it in a lot of people

It’s kinda the dumb but true saying of “guns don’t kill ppl, people kill people” so how are guns the problem?

Every country has mental health problems. The U.S. has a shockingly high level of gun violence for a developed country. Guns enable people to injure and kill with ease. Same reasons you wouldn't allow civilians to have grenades, tanks, or missile launchers.
