I try as hard as I can to keep people in my life properly informed. That's my civic duty as of late.

Ong, i do not see enough college-aged students in my state capitol where the fuck are yall at? Why aren’t they lobbying for our city? Why aren’t you going to community meetings and talking with electeds and finding ones that WILL take your voice to the governor?

How do you know I’m not 🫵 I’ve started a community garden, volunteer for park cleanups, and do food drives for a community pantry quite often. I also help with meals on wheels with food packing (I used to drive but they haven’t needed me in a while) But yeah way too many people do not engage AT ALL. They scream into the void to fein moral superiority for their opinions since their actions are empty

I don’t think virtue signaling to people who use this forum as an outlet to express political opinions is doing what you think it is. Community work is good and encouraging people to do it is good, but you aren’t going to get strangers on the internet to do that by saying they aren’t doing enough

Could I not just be expressing my frustration with a forum not engaging fully with the depths of the topic it’s supposed to be engaging with. Try not to take things so personally, it’s not about you, unless, of course, you’re apart of the problem I’m discussing

I’m not an example to go by. But I was pulling my hair out wanting to make a contribution in my community with the current turmoil. And the local food bank in my town always comes around my workplace for donations. A solution came to me at work, so now I donate what I can through work and my off time.

That’s pretty awesome! There’s so much resources out there but none of them having the marketing they deserve! Shoutout you!

It’s a hard task! I’m about to write up my meeting notes from the county commissioner There’s so many people at the political parties meeting, but so few at the literal governmental meetings. I think they definitely need that bridge built for them. Governmental work is heavily information front loaded and contextual

People don't care enough about local. People only care about state and federal. Local is where everything starts.

Deadass!! There’s legitimately NOTHING you can do to pressure your representatives at a state level directly But I go up and shake my local commissioners hands and ask them for shit. Jake Johnson dgaf about fruit trees in public parks (systemically fixing food insecurity provided by the tax base), he’s advocating for the death penalty on nonviolent drug trafficking?!

My town literally gives away free compost, you’ll never get that at a state level
