So what do they do? They investigate all the small-fry cases where someone poor misfiled something, which only require a few hours of one accountant’s time each.
well, i can say without a doubt that we USED TO be going after the people buying a third yacht when they owe millions in taxes… bc my Mom was one of those IRS officers. her official title was the acronym ATAT (like the Star Wars vehicles on Hoth lmfao) before they dangled her job security in her face for months & she finally took an exit route to get out of the government before things got worse… she did that job for 15 years & they got rid of everyone who was any good at their job…
