I mean I’ve literally been neighbors with a convicted child rapist who was required by law to tell the whole neighborhood about it, he was a US citizen, served his time and hadn’t reoffended to my knowledge, so I just told my siblings to stay away from that part of the block.

Yeah the guy in Minnesota they pulled out of his house in the bathrobe wasn’t the guy ICE was looking for, and when ICE said who they were looking for in that house, the Minnesota Dept. of Corrections was like “we literally have that dude, that house was where he lived when he was arrested”

I’m not familiar with that particular instance. But, DHS has slandered people as gang members who were not multiple times in the last year, so I think the unfettered lying in the administration has undermined the public trust to a point where people have a knee-jerk reaction to reject or accept their allegations based on politics, even though it’s always a mix of truths, half-truths, and lies when government agencies mislead.

People admittedly didn’t have the facts in that one and the media was honestly pretty slow about it. The fact that a Venezuelan gang was present in Portland, of all places, seemed unlikely. There was also the *fact* that ICE did not call for medical assistance after shooting them. That is completely beyond the pale. Even local cops administer first aid until the ambulance gets there, even if it’s a criminal
