Pete Davidson didn't have the setup there in the same way, and honestly it's not like Gillis' racism in the joke being referred to is any worse or more present than Davidson's homophobia in his joke.

Davidson also didn't immediately apologize for making fun of a guy's death like Gillis did which makes it feel a bit more distasteful
