Am I crazy for not wanting to believe the worst about the Men’s Hockey team based off two videos that barely a minute put together. While I wouldn’t have reacted that way I don’t think they wanted to come off the way it looks.

Like Charlie McAvoy for example is very openly liberal, goes to pride parades, advocates for marginalized communities, etc. The Tkachuk brothers are fully MAGA and Matthew said visiting Trump was the greatest day of his life Everyone else is probably somewhere in between

sports ARE political. it would be a much stronger statement to stand up against an administration that is perpetuating discrimination and injustice. atheletes who make political statements (kaepernick, rapinoe, liu) still love America, but it’s obvious that they’re calling attention to some of the flaws of our country; patriotism and nationalism are two different things

Especially with the phone call. It could have been uncomfortable laughter, you can even hear one of them say “2 for 2” in response to Trump, that’s as supportive as you can get. (I’m totally aware that I can be wrong I just don’t think it’s smart to make assumptions with what we have)

Even if it’s all uncomfortable laughter, which at least some of it very much doesn’t sound like, they are maga with no spine to do anything but laugh and go along with sexism towards female athletes

Inviting kash Patel to party in their locker room, even from that phone call alone you can tell they are very enthusiastic to go to the White House and be talking to him while anyone who hates him would not be talking that happily and decline, common sense
