I have realized one of the biggest things people don’t know about the Holocaust is that the Nazis pursued a policy of mass deportations before they switched to death camps.

The Madagascar plan was adopted by the Nazis during the conquest of France, as Madagascar was a French colony. Before this they attempted to push Jewish emigration through discriminatory laws, and held organized deportations of immigrant Jews

I don’t remember what was his name but one Nazi suggested to spare only German Jews but to have said Jews become sterilized

Nothing to see here folks, just another tired Nazi/Holocaust comparison. By this logic, any country that enforces its borders is just one step away from Hitler lmao

You gonna explain how they’re different or just say shit? Cause the current administration is doing a whole ton of similar shit. We have disappearance of people into the detention system, arrests without trial, calls for the deportation of entire ethnicities, mass internment camps including in Guantanamo, and the government claiming it’s enforcers are immune to legal prosecution.

But might I add that mass deportations are often used as a means of ethnic cleaning outside of Nazi contexts. That is actually how Bhutan is currently pursuing a policy of ethnic cleansing after revoking citizenship rights from much of its ethnically Nepali population. Similar actions were taken in Uganda against the Indian community. And the Armenian genocide was just a mass deportation where the deportees were killed before they reached the destination.

“Enforcing its borders” usually doesn’t involve the government tweeting about “100 million deportations” “remigration” and trying to revoke citizenship rights

One question, where was all this angst when Obama was deporting millions. He had a nickname “deporter in chief” just more identity politics of Trump=bad. So tiring. I’m not reading all that, it’s just a bunch of identity politics

So people can oppose what Obama did. But there’s a number of distinctions. 1. Obama’s administration did not encourage excessive violence and force 2. Obama primarily deported people at the border or targeted people who committed crimes, rather than raising workplaces 3. Obama did not call for “remigration” (a neo-Nazi concept) or “100 million deportations” (there’s only 48 million foreigners in the country, that includes legal immigrants).

4. Under Obama, abuses were investigated rather than defended a justified. 5. Under Obama, you generally would not be detained just for looking brown 6. Detainees under Obama had legal rights and could prove they were legal immigrants if they were. Trump has deported legal immigrants without trial

It’s one thing to say “papers please, oh no I’m sorry I’m afraid you can’t come in” it’s another to fly a black hawk helicopter through Chicago to raid a civilian apartment building and drag men women and children, some fully nude out into cold street. I’m not anti border law enforcement, I’m anti secret police forces that defy court orders and just killed someone in cold blood

Plenty of left wing people oppose Obama and biden’s deportation policies. I saw people criticizing Biden for it when he was in power. But their policies were objectively less violent and weren’t FULL of racist rhetoric

I think Obama honestly did some good things, but like let’s be honest this whole housing price inflation “just print money about it” and bailout solution has been reapplied again and again and it doesn’t work and is harming everyone so boomers can die comfortable

Honestly idgaf about the rhetoric. Like most Americans, I just want illegal immigration to end, for those who immigrated illegally to leave, and for the millions of illegals that flooded the border over the Biden administration under a fake refugee status to be brought to justice. This la di da, sunshine and rainbow we can take on millions of unskilled workers is what lost you all the last election so keep it up! I’m sure it will work out

You… don’t see how rhetoric matters… when the conversation is about comparing ICE to Nazis. Gee I wonder how the obvious calls to deport brown people en masse regardless of immigration status might relate… to why they are called Nazis… hmmm

If this government cared about “deporting illegals”, they would make sure there’s due process and thorough checks to make sure no legal immigrants or U.S. citizens are accidentally deported. But they aren’t doing that. Quite the opposite actually. They’ve made it easier to deport legal immigrants and citizens than ever before

You say you don’t care about rhetoric but repeat rhetoric with stuff like “illegals flooding the border” and “most Americans just want illegal immigration to end.” Get real bro you’re defending fascism.

You don’t care about rhetoric, which means you’re denying the reality of the situation. There’s literally no point in you having an opinion on this if you deny the importance of the exact thing that’s causing these similarities as it escalates into scapegoating violence. You make a great Nazi, pal.
