approached creepily like i have been in downtown cities in the US. the scariest moment was in this area that was all sex shops and strip clubs, got approached back to back to back i wasnt sure what they wanted cause they spoke french, so they probably weren’t even immigrants. and again, i was never in danger. they left when i didnt interact with them

i will say tho that people stare really bad. men and women. i think its a cultural thing but still, that was the most uncomfortable part. my dress wasnt revealing at all for american standards but i got dirty looks from older brown women every day, and the men would stare at me and not look away even if i stared back

there’s also a clear divide between people there as immigrants and people visiting. i met many younger men from african, middle eastern, and south asian countries and they were some of the nicest people i met! very respectful and down to just conversate without expectations. ive only been to college bars in america so i wasnt used to that kind of respect
