It’s because of the Hebrew. The usage of Hebrew on the signs behind him is terrible for optics. It was a dead language until the Zionist entity revived it as a unifying factor for its colonial expansion. Anyone who sees this pic without context will hate

The Jewish group he stood with is literally the one Israeli group that condemns everything, protests for an end to the genocide and an end to apartheid. People who see Mamdani as a traitor because of that are genuinely CIA bots

It wasn’t a fully dead language. It was commonly used in Jewish literature, and for cross-communication between Jewish communities who spoke different languages. Its revival as a literary spoken language was based on its widespread use in Torah study. And the man who revived Hebrew died 20 years before Israel was founded.

And I don’t read Hebrew script, but the script is also used to write Yiddish. You can’t see letters and get mad at the existence of an alphabet.

yeah but the script is a symbol of occupation. U have to think of the optics. People don’t take the time and attention to see context before getting angry

It’s the first language of the majority of the Hebrew population. Yeah English didn’t exist in Australia until it was colonized, but are indigenous rights activists in Australia not supposed to use it?

I meant to say israeli population, not Hebrew population

The reason the sign is there is to show that being anti-genocide is not being against the Israeli Jewish people.

True, but taken into context right now being seen with Hebrew is worse than being seen with English

I don’t think we need to accommodate people who see the existence of the Hebrew script as a problem. Not only does that line of thinking deny that Hebrew-speakers can be against the genocide, what is the logical result. If the apartheid and genocide ends, are the millions of Hebrew speakers supposed to…stop?
