A lot of lawyers who deal with ice and immigration enforcement will tell you that after detaining people, they almost never see their valuables back.
Idk if it’s true, but it sure as fuck checks out.
Unfortunately thats true with law enforcement of all kinds. The burden of proof if on you to prove that the seized valuables weren’t associated with any crime.

No actually the burden of proof is not on you.
Unless you can prove the items on a person were stolen, it’s assumed they belong to that person.
That’s innocence until proven guilty.
Horrifying were just forgetting this.
