With all the doom and gloom, here is some hopeful news! Water hyacinths have been found to be able to remove microplastics from water (on top of other pollutants) without damaging or poisoning the rest of the plant! Meaning it’s safe for animals to eat!

But before you go trying to plant them in your water, just be aware they are invasive outside of South America and can crowed out other vegetation in the area! So do so carefully
