I’m just wondering how tf that picture of the Jesus statue smashing got on the internet. Was that solder like “hey bro take a picture of me destroying Jesus the groupchat will love it” and then someone in that group leaked it or something?

Literally that. IDF soldiers constantly photograph / video themselves doing bad stuff. Worse stuff than this oftentimes. Like literally videos through a scope of them shoot kids in the head, or posing with Palestinian women’s underwear.

Long answer, they probably also view them as trophies. Similar to how some serial killers/rapists might take something from their victims (hair, clothes, items, limbs, even just taking pictures). Other people with other “trophies” all gather around to flaunt them, and shit gets leaked. These people are all probably deeply insecure, feel a need to fit in, and despite seeing themselves as “the alpha” are dogs that fall in line. And they know it deep down, it’s why they keep acting out.
