Yet modern republicans are the ones still waving confederate flags so why should anyone care what party supported what almost 200 years ago

No one denies that but you bring it up as if shit hasn’t changed when the fact of the matter is the democrats of today and republicans of today are vastly different than the Dems and republicans of the 1860s. No it doesn’t change history, but ignoring the other parts of history such as the party switch is pretty fucking disingenuous when trying to tie contemporary politics into one part of history and act like nothing changed.

rebel flag for defending slavery, and yeah it was a “state’s rights” issue, a state’s right to continue slavery

So you only care about names, but you’ll fully accept the ideologies that the party you’re reproaching held at the time. How is your brain not on fire with cognitive dissonance

Sounds super Anti-American to me. It’s literally not American history since it’s the side that didn’t want to be part of the USA. Got wiped off the face of the Earth and existed for less time than my worn ass pair of Converse

OP….. you can’t be loud and wrong on every level then get mad when people call you out for it…. The party switch literally means that modern day democrats would be considered republicans when slavery was still legal….
