tbh I almost feel like it should be by municipality. you want to have a coffee shop in an affluent town? pay folks enough to live in town

It still blows my mind that the poverty line is that low. I make about $40k annually in a relatively low COL area and I was still using food pantries occasionally (before the shutdown because SNAP recipients need it far more than I do)

Probably kept the same as it is now and actually address the factors behind higher costs

I earn 74k a year, about $35 per hour. I definitely don’t want some mf in Highschool working at McDonald’s to be earning $30 an hour because then where’s the incentive to be an engineer as I am? The company would have to pay everyone more, which makes our products go up in price, which makes the companies we sell products to have to increase their prices, and it’s reflected on the consumer.

or alternatively. keep minimum wage where it’s at and institute a local cost-of-living based UBI that covers basic necessities if we wanna rely on the free hand of the market, workers need to stop being coerced.

bc working at McDonald’s sucks bc it’s a service job and not just bc it’s low pay? People who are truly passionate about engineering will choose it as a career path even if they make a salary closer to the median. And society is worse off when dispassionate engineers phone it in for a paycheck so im not really seeing the issue

He literally told you the issue, if companies need to pay their minimum wage employees more then they will raise the price of their products to cover and then have that cost reflected onto the consumer and boom nothing changes
