 Confederates were legit fucking traitors. I grew up deep south georgia and this flag was everywhere. Also the “Southern cross” is not the confederate flag, both are flags of enemies of the union. Trying to claim this as the dixie flag is fucking stupid.

As a white southerner, Reconstruction wasn’t enough and no treasonous confederate soldier should have been pardoned

I’m white and from southern Virginia, less than an hour from the Confederate Capital. And I wholeheartedly despise the confederacy and wish reconstruction hadn’t stopped. Read up on the Virginia Readjuster Party. The lower class was uniting and it scared the plantation elites so much they had to make Jim Crow.

It wasnt bc we had to still use the military to have them release the slaves. If they didn’t set them free when told to that should have been jail time and the land given to the former slaves as retribution.
