So this is bc of the shutdown, yeah? My honest question is that if democrats actually cared about people then what is preventing them from just settling on opening the government. Striking down the re-opening of the government 13 times kinda sounds like it falls into their hands, no? It’s hard to see this scenario as anything other than them holding the govt hostage to make themselves look better.

If republicans have presented legislation 13 times and been struck down 13 times, who isn’t doing the negotiating? This is what I’m asking. If the democrats claim they want to shutdown to end, why are they so adamant about shutting down negotiation dozens of times. That’s what I’m asking. What are they not willing to agree with in these proposals?

This is why it feels like they aren’t trying to negotiate and are more so just saying no again and again to make a point and deflect pressure to Trump and try to blame him and make him look like the problem. That’s why I’m asking what is stopping them from just saying yes to one of these 13 proposals that are presented to them?
