yeah I’m talking with that person now, if you go back to the convo you can see that they’re a genocide denier; which is likely the reason for what they said about the other commenter given their political views. As a leftist, the issue that motivates me and my fellow leftists as far as I can tell is not some underlying hatred or wish for the destruction of Israel, it’s more so a critique of the methods taken to create the country itself if that makes sense.

furthermore, on the topic of nation states themselves; I’d argue that the nation of Israel has been colonizing Palestine for decades, since its inception. personally I do support the dissolution of the state itself, but I say that because I believe that there should be a singular, secular, state in which everyone from both current Palestine and current Israel are able to coexist and live in peace with each other, rather than having the overlying distinction of nations at conflict with each other

that being said, there are indeed those that wish for the unrestricted destruction of Israel (mostly, being the neonazis like nick fuentes, but they aren’t leftists in the slightest); and there are also people who view the same about Palestine (such as the Netanyahu-type Zionists, and even a lot of Christian nationalists (but then again, the Christian nationalists kinda fall into both camps))
