I feel like I’m going insane as a moderate conservative who accepts science. I believe it’s real, but my main difference with Libs is I believe free-market innovation will save us with new technologies, not heavy-handed government regulation.

idk I used to believe free market innovation would save us but I’m at the point where I don’t trust free markets would have a financial incentive without government/collective money because the global warming isn’t a individual issue at all. A thing about capitalism is it’s really bad at handling things with negative economic value and things that require collective approaches.

Right, Elon is literally all for alternative energy research (which is a reason why him and Trump fell out) but when he joined the Republicans everyone just completely abandoned him. He was realistically our best hope to have more widespread alternative energies and innovations.

Nuanced. I believe they should be left alone, and adults do whatever with their bodies. My religion, and my personal beliefs, are against it, but the government should let them transition, get new IDs, etc. Others should respect and not baselessly attack them.

I’m fine with sports and military bans, as well as restrictions on transitions for people under 18. Even if I don’t agree with someone’s lifestyle and am a cultural conservative, I am more libertarian on personal lifestyles and don’t like the government meddling.

Look how cheap solar panels have gotten. I think that’s a great example of private companies innovating.

Still. We have a lot of cool stuff going on with solar, battery power, nuclear energy, etc.

Right, I think capitalism is more effective at innovating incremental advancements in technologies that’s one of its benefits. I’m arguing that there isn’t a market to solve global warming/climate change. Capitalism would be better finding solutions to mitigate the problems it has. For example, maybe infrastructure that’s more resistant to more violent and unpredictable climates.

Capitalism is also interested in also not being capitalist either imo which is why I don’t like the term free-markets.

I guess. Infrastructure is always good, although I prefer to focus on hard infrastructure. I think permitting and zoning reform could help as well, so that builders of all forms of energy (except maybe coal) can build more faster.

Would you support gender affirming care for minors knowing it reduces the rates of suicide in LGBT youth?

Wary of it. I don’t like the idea of kids making big decisions like that, but in the most extreme cases potentially.

Fair, I do think that the term is used incorrectly a lot of the time csu’s gender affirming care can literally just mean gender specific therapy or like a multi year process of seeing therapists, psychologists, etc etc and hormones if the medical professionals deem it necessary

If Elon truly cared about preserving human progress and civilization he would have never stuck himself directly in the center of partisan politics allying with the very market and governing forces in direct contention with adequate solutions, but I guess being a loveless multi-divorced dad whose children hate him applies a half life to “wokeness” and the greater civilizational good.

Not to mention the fact that his own personal philosophical and aspirational prerogatives have been centered in escapism (and thus defeatism) for decades.
