Not the 2000 election, but the Supreme Court deciding that taking the time to count every vote is dumb and we should just stop and let bush win (even though in the end he would lose the electoral college when every vote was counted)

more seriously, we went wrong way before 2000. i mean the us has been led by war mongers and corrupt evil people for decades and centuries. that was a blip that sent us in a less progressive direction

I believe the consequences of 2000 is far worse than even that. I think it’s the event that solidly set in motion our decline as a country after only 10 years of a unipolar world post-USSR
