It’s interesting seeing the right and left become more Catholic recently. Like it’s anecdotal but I’m seeing random obscure political people on social media be branded as a “recent radical convert” for both the right and left.

America has no grand ancient traditions on which to reflect like Europe does, so the cringe trad guys need something ancient to connect with. Leftist Catholics are based, shoutout liberation theology

This is explicitly why Vance joined the Catholic church btw, he said “it’s really old.” They want the aesthetics (which tbf are fire!) but no doctrine. Leftist Catholics (hopefully) will focus on doctrine first. All of this is my outside perspective as an atheist, though.
