Even if you don’t believe the exact numbers, almost every single source I’ve found agrees that ending world hunger would cost far less than the U.S. military budget. Also, when a system allows for morally reprehensible people to manipulate the masses in order to gain power, or allow people to horde wealth without paying their share, I’d describe it as fucked.
