Why are so many liberals so opposed to the war in Iran? What was the alternative after diplomacy failed? Surely we couldn’t have just let the regime acquire nuclear weapons, right?

I thought we obliterated their program 6 months ago

Surely we couldn’t let the regime acquire the nuclear weapons they’ve been acquiring for the past 30 years without successfully acquiring any…

Why did your guy campaign specifically on not doing this and lie

We are a terrorist regime with nuclear weapons.

Well, people can and do rebuild. So now what?

If they rebuilt it in 6 months we have a very serious problem and should be sanctioning the fuck out of whoever is supplying them instead. Stop the root cause instead of playing whack a mole every 6 months

So we’ve been doing that, but it’s clearly not working since it’s increasingly being developed domestically. Now what?

Who have we sanctioned for providing nuclear weapons to Iran?

Explicitly for providing them with support? No one. But we have sanctioned Russia for other reasons, namely Ukraine. Also, most of their technology came from the same group—not a country you can sanction—that seeded North Korea’s program. So in any case, I ask again: now what?

Which group?

The AQ Khan network. Named for a physicist who helped the Pakistanis get the bomb and then worked as a contractor of sorts for rouge states like Iran and North Korea. But that’s beside the point: now what?

Do you know why they’ve been unsuccessful thus far?

Because it’s Israeli propaganda to goad us into fighting their wars? Yes I do know. Thanks for reminding me

No but really do you know?

Yes I do, because if Iran gave even a hint of building nuclear weapons we would have organized a regime change immediately. It doesn’t take an idiot to understand what’s going on here.

No, it’s been thanks to a shadow war. Ever heard of Stuxnet? Or why do you think Iranian scientists are always turning up dead? We’ve been actively slowing them down, but we can only do so much…

Stuxnet which the Iranians identified and took care of or stuxnex that the US and Israeli government developed and was used against the US? Same thing? The assassinations conducted by Israel?

Iran hasn’t had a process in place to build nuclear weapons since 2003. They’ve been audited by the IAEA frequently and the IAEA doesn’t fuck around. And consider who runs it they wouldn’t hesitate to release information relating to an Iranian nuclear program.

Have you forgotten what triggered the 12-Day War last year…? Iran really gave the IAEA the finger, so what are you talking about? The Iranians have already enriched far beyond the level needed for even the most sophisticated civilian nuclear power plants—why would they do that if not to pursue a bomb?

Israel bombing Iran and assassinating high rank officials started the war. Uh huh… I’m starting to get it now. All hail Netenyahoo. They probably enrich it to that level to show their warmongering neighbor that they can fuck them up if they need to. It’s called a deterrent.

LMAO they got it from Japan??? That’s absurd. Anyway, we should have gone back to the 2016 deal. We were completely fine under that, and had a position to work for from there. Iran’s biggest concerns are Israel and Saudi Arabia, and we could have brokered peace agreements between all of them

Don’t forget that from Iran’s perspective, the fact we just attacked them and have never attacked North Korea for the same thing just underscores why they need nukes. They know it’s only a matter of time before Saudi Arabia either develops their own or gets them from somewhere like Pakistan. If that happens, Iran is literally surrounded by countries with nuclear weapons

Israel did that immediately after Iran told the IAEA to kick rocks because why else would they do that if not to pursue a bomb?

I don’t recall Iran identifying Stuxnet before it degraded centrifuges. Which part of it was used against the US? We should have done that again. At the very least, no one would have died over that, and it’s considerably cheaper. However, it’s ethically very questionable to stockpile zero-day vulnerabilities like that. The NSA has been hacked/compromised before, and the leaked exploits have been very bad

While Israel is an IAEA member state and has some facilities under safeguards, it has not accepted comprehensive, full-scope safeguards, leading to periodic, failed diplomatic efforts by Arab states to force. Doesn’t seem to be a problem when israel hides their nuclear weapons so I don’t see the problem with Iran doing the same.

As in the entire United States government and its military. We are literally waging war on or in nearly 10 separate nations over the past 12 months, all because we feel like Christianity needs to be forced into every corner of the earth. This is nonsense, and you moronic cultist fucks are absolute twats.
