Not really into politics at all but can someone explain why democrats are being blamed for the shutdown when (I believe,) the senate, house, and white house are republican? Also is this another "distraction" from the epstein files?

Senate needed 60 votes (a 3/5) majority to pass the budget needed to keep the government from shutting down. Democrats wanted to reverse some of the healthcare cuts and prevent others from being passed in the bill (esp following the cuts made in the BBB). Republicans didn’t compromise for healthcare, democrats wouldn’t compromise for the budget, they received only 55 out of the needed 60 votes to pass.

Republicans are blaming democrats because they needed the democrats to vote to pass, and they didn’t. However, this is more a fault of the senate itself. The inability to operate, compromise, and approve on budgeting and policy is pretty baseline. Republicans are able to scapegoat democrats for them not voting yes, but democrats are able to blame republicans for having bad policy.
