If you don’t pay taxes you should have no access to taxpayer-funded programs or infrastructure.

For not paying your taxes, I sentence you to driving across Pennsylvania without using I-76 or its offshoots.
Driving on roads more crater-filled than the moon will teach you the importance of paying your fair share and avoid the freeloader issue

That’s unrealistic

So people who opt-out of taxes should just be allowed to freeload on infrastructure and services paid for by the rest of the public?

You can call it freeloading, I call it freedom

Hey nobody’s saying you can’t be free. But taxpayer-funded things are made for taxpayers. If you don’t pay taxes, then using those things is tantamount to theft. You’re perfectly free to do what you want otherwise. If you want it, pay for it. Simple.

And if I choose not to, are you going to build a fence around my house so I can’t drive?

Anonymouslandtrust30w
No, but you will get fined when you’re caught driving without a license, given that the DMV is a taxpayer-funded organization. And then fined more for driving on public roads illegally. And then charged for the time spent stopping you by taxpayer-funded police.

So I can choose to pay for the dmv. Now what?

Anonymouslandtrust30w
So you’re legit agreeing that non tax payers shouldn’t have access to tax payer services 😂

No I’m just saying hypothetically

Thing is though, if you want to treat government services like private services, that entitles the government to charge what they want to tax evaders like you. They may elect to backcharge you for all taxes you’ve elected not to pay in order to use those services.

They may do a lot of different things. It’s just hypothetical. But you’re right, a government wouldn’t just LET me avoid taxes. That’s why they’re mandatory

Even if they did, it’s not necessarily something you want. Taxes are more or less the cost of participating in civilization. Public funding is very important, and while tax reform is necessary, taxes themselves are the best way to keep that public funding.
