I’d rather be part of a country that doesn’t allow entities to buy votes, no matter who they are or how amazing their goals are. The constitutionality, foreseeable impacts, and general agreeableness with the rest of the nation is all that should matter, not how much money you can throw behind your ideas. That’s the entire reason for all of our issues, we’ve allowed people to throw money at issues we explicitly were told was for our voices alone

Representatives should stand for and represent their ideals, not whatever pays the best in donations and lobbying. Corruption even for good causes is still corruption

In the same countries that ban corporate lobbying, unions are powerful organizations across all industries that bargain directly with employers and union have explicit rights and powers written into their respective country’s national constitutions

The argument that unions would somehow lose power is an insular one that neglects to look at how these countries which ban lobbying are structured politically. Because obviously in those said countries, which are often social democracies, have unions much more powerful than ours lmao.
