John Williams put in work- enough to become trusted, become an intel officer! He was able to gather information on contacts the militia had in law enforcement, journalists that they had staked out and doxxed, threats made. And to do that, he had to become a member of the militia and do militia things. He had to fulfill his duties as an “intel officer”. If the SPLC paid him for his work, and he passed the information to them- this would be included in the charges against them.
