I want to hear from people who know about this more than me. Are they the indigenous people of the Falklands? They weren’t inhabited (as in, not just a military base island) until 1833
The Falklands are British, no matter what Milei says.

The British settled the uninhabited Falklands in 1765, so yes, they are the native Falklanders

The term indigenous is usually relevant to contrast to a second colonizing group. Given that Argentina attempted to force the Falklanders to switch to Spanish during the occupation, I would consider that colonization. Hence the British Falklanders are an indigenous people subject to Argentine colonial aggression.

The French established a settlement in 1764, so if we’re going by first humans there it’s French

Britain claimed them in 1765, then in 1770 the Spanish kicked them out. Britain withdrew all presence in 1774 and didn’t return until 1833, the Spanish out of Buenos Aires held it in the interim

and depending on who you ask the Spanish ceded control of the Islands to Argentina, so it’s a bit of a question of who has authority to give control of territory

The Argentine pseudohistory about the Falklands is crazy btw. They try to present the revolt of ranchers against the guy Argentina put in charge as being a revolt against British colonialism. They also claim the British expelled all the argentines from the islands. They did not. The Argentine ranchers just integrated with the British shepherds.
