i’m friends with a lot of trotskyists and joined a trotskyist party for a short time. nothing could be more true. i’ve had them tell me i’m wasting my time trying to make people’s lives better in the present while also building their class consciousness rather than pass out newspapers waiting on the revolution to magically appear lol.

yeah the refusal to modernize and recognize the current conditions in any way is what gets me the most and is what ultimately drove me away from the party and the ideology as a whole. their newspaper is the least accessible thing ever because they MUST not water down the message and therefore use jargon you only know if you’re already a communist. got a lot of complaints about them maybe i’ll make a mega thread one day.

tbf i never fully was one, i was just sympathetic to it and thought the party was an actual force for change when i joined it, so i went along. ironically, the more lenin i read, the more i drifted from it, despite that party deifying lenin lol.

It’s crazy how they act like Lenin actually had a high opinion of Trotsky when it comes to theory and application. Stalin was obviously nowhere near perfect, but I genuinely believe that the outcome with Stalin is better than the outcome with Trotsky ever would’ve been. And you should make that mega thread

i mean it’s RCA/IMT, they rebranded like two years ago for some reason. there’s plenty out there about them, i feel like they’re widely regarded as a larp, but perhaps i will make the thread just as a warning because they sweep up some well meaning commies.

and they harp on it because their guy wasn’t the one who came to power. there’s no doubt in my mind either that stalin was optimal in the wake of lenin’s death, despite his missteps. it’s just bitterness to think trotsky’s ideas would’ve been anything but red painted colonization.
