Save this post. Give it time. Consider the amount of hubris one must have to believe themselves this correct after additionally losing the popular vote this last time around. I haven’t found conservatives are correct about everything, but this amount of pride precedes a massive fall.
LMAO conservatives have been consistently wrong about so many things, including what policies will benefit the economy, how to fix government overreach, etc. They constantly elect people that shit on them in return. The only things they’re ever correct about are things that liberals/leftists also agree with
Both sides share historic common ground with the political leaders seemingly playing a game to get the commoners of both parties whipped into an emotional frenzy, projecting/demonizing one another in the streets while they go to lunch together and collect lobbyist $. We are only now starting to heal from what technology and scalability enabled them to do. The main difference today, is it appears the left wing leadership has left their commoners hanging and are resisting a party shift away f1/
1/2 from social stigma issues towards a more environmental protection focused platform. Their biggest donors don’t appear to be funding campaigns because of past failures (recently enough) along with a slew of other issues internally. I try not to favor either side but it seems like all my left wing friends feel like they got hung out to dry and are still sitting with talking points from 5 years ago like they are the hill they must die upon, which frankly, isn’t true. It’s very difficult, 2/3
Those things aside, while I agree that establishment Democrats and Republicans are really only interested in pocketing money, we can compare Democratic versus Republican administrations as far back as Reagan and find glaring differences. Democrats generate more jobs for the same amount of national debt, are responsible for implementing legislation to protect minority rights, support student debt cancellation, and provide more economic relief to the working class.
The GOP is solely focused on enriching the corporate class. Biden’s administration passed the CHIPS Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, and attempted to cancel billions of dollars of student debt but were thwarted by the GOP. Now with Trump at the helm, the GOP has turned into an extremist party that demonizes and terrorizes immigrants, is attempting to erase queer rights, degrade women’s autonomy, and keep us fighting Israel’s wars.
Absolutely fucking none of this would have happened under a Democratic administration. We are suffering an economic crisis, a human rights crisis, and a climate crisis. This administration is cutting healthcare funding, destroying research grants, tearing up national parks, poisoning our food and water, etc. The modern GOP became Trump’s party in 2017 and there is no way you can say that Democrats are just as bad as them.
Are we though? Economic crisis appears to be brewing yes, but I have long since seen anyone outside of Gen Z & Y doing as poorly as they were historically. The economic situation of Gen Z and Y remains a concern, but there does not appear to be visible solutions yet that are palpable to the masses. That emotional charge I was referring to hikes their hairs the moment they see the word “socialism” “communism” etc. The climate crisis is also brewing but the data in my field is very 1/2
2/2 VERY embarrassing for the CO2 focused crowd. They were so concerned with solar radiation and greenhouse gasses, we are only now measuring geothermal spikes beneath the earth through volcanos. Once word gets out to the masses they were looking in the wrong direction and it will be bad enough, but inverted disasters (earthquakes, etc) the amount of people who are going to have to eat crow will likely cause many to pick a different career. I wish people would come up with solutions that 2/3
3/3 don’t center around which political party is front-lining it (which makes it easily hijacked for political ends not benefiting the people) because otherwise, this big game of pointing fingers among people who had very little to do with final decisions will not cease until the ground starts cracking in front of them.
