Even if you’re not fascist, it’s just what’s smart. Once they’re in power, communists will off you for not being totalitarian enough, even if you’re Marxist. Just look at Trotsky.

The Italian fascist party was originally aligned with the communist elements in the Italian government, then Mussolini realized he could gain more power by aligning with capital and the monarchy

I’m fairly sure it was a lot more about how Mussolini, a socialist party member at the time, disagreed with other socialists on whether Italy should’ve been involved in WWI

I’m implying that, like #2 pointed out, inevitably the ones in charge will align with those with the most power so they can increase their own power. The Democrat party isn’t fascist, just a fascist-aligned useful opposition
