To push the idea that BIPOC ppl are prone to crime without taking into account socioeconomic factors

that when you do account for it racial disparities effectively disappear?

They actually do. We see that when given the same opportunity, taken out of poverty, and get rid of over policing crime goes down. Crime, mostly violent crime, is more common in cities that are found in red states….aka the poorer states…but you should know that yea?

it goes down obviously, but that doesn’t completely go away there is still a culture element, you should know that

when you account for things like neighborhood disadvantage rather than individual income (Black Americans live in worse neighborhoods than White Americans at the same income level) then it is statistically no longer significant, do you even know what statistical significance is?

I don’t and you’re right that it’s still statistically significant but that’s when you account for income-only rather than neighborhood-wide factors

the black population that is high income and lives specifically in, likely white neighborhoods, is so far distilled and removed from the average that it’s hard to draw a conclusion from it

that’s not how that works, there is more than a sufficient sample size for that population to draw conclusions from it

but also the notion that you being “removed” from the culture allegedly causing crime just from being in affluent majority white spaces kinda indicates that yeah it’s more socioeconomic than anything bc if blackness is the causal factor changing environments shouldn’t matter

Even tho I go to a PWI I’m still in touch with my culture. I don’t change the way I talk, I dress the way I want, I still eat soul food, I listen to our music. Even if I don’t like a genre of music I’ll still listen to it if it’s made by a black artist, especially if it’s a genre that u don’t see us in much. I didn’t rlly listen to rock music until I found The Paradox. A band of young black dreadheads. I bump their music every now again just to support. I literally started an organization-
