It’s not denial. There’s no law that requires the president to share information with the VP, so the president often doesn’t. I don’t even think the two are that ideologically aligned. Vance is a much stronger populist, whereas Trump is operating not that much differently from an establishment Republican.

There is zero evidence he is going after legal U.S. citizens and deporting them. There are very few people with green cards that are actually getting deported, but regardless, they are not citizens, so technically he’s within his authority to deport them. You can disagree with it, and in fact I do too sometimes, but it’s not a matter of rights though. Non-citizens don’t have a right to be here. We allow them, but we technically don’t have to.

I also think that the GOP has an issue with demonization when it comes to this issue. You can argue that land doesn’t belong to anyone, and I’ll argue that sovereigntism is an absolutely necessary to prevent humanity from imploding in on itself. That’s not our fault. You can criticize Bukele for that.
