The American system of policing was born out of slave-catching. Law enforcement has always been the enforcement arm of white supremacy in America. It was law enforcement spraying civil rights protesters with hoses. It was law enforcement executing the explicitly racially motivated war on drugs. It’s law enforcement who consistently get away with murdering unarmed people, disproportionately people of color. Cops fucking suck.

the system is as fucked as you say it is. however, there are some cops who are genuinely good people, and want to make a difference in what you're describing. the law enforcement system fucking sucks, but cops need to be judged one by one like any other person. there are people trying to make law enforcement what it should be.

The good cops get fired, blackballed, and sometimes even murdered by their coworkers when they work against the corruption and brutality of the system. The policing system only stays as fucked up as it is because 95% of cops will protect each other over the public every single time.

The quickest way to ruin your career as a cop is to go to Internal Affairs about the illegal conduct of another cop. Go to the newspaper about it? Shit, you might lose a lot more than your career. These organizations are taxpayer funded gangs.
