Why is it okay for Israel to be a Jewish state yet it’s not okay to ask for a white Christian state? What’s the difference?

The argument a Zionist would make would be that the Jewish state is a response to historical oppression and is needed to prevent the oppression of a historically persecuted minority. Whereas a white Christian state is a perpetuation of historical oppression. I disagree though. I think neither are ok. Ethnostates are bad and as we have seen, inevitably lead to awful racism.

Even in cases where it is intended to assist a persecuted minority, we have seen that the creation of an ethnostate will create new persecuted minorities. In Israel’s case, Arabs became persecuted. Historically, whenever a state is declared to be for one ethnicity, those of other ethnicities will usually be persecuted.

I wouldn’t describe China as an ethnostate. It’s *supposed* to be multicultural. But they’ve been suppressing other cultures too and are increasingly Han-centric. Non-mandarin sinitic languages are referred to as “dialects” and treated as if they don’t matter. Strong assimilatory policies towards non-recognized ethnicities and towards recognized ethnicities deemed separatist threats like Tibetans and Uyghurs.

This is just projection. A white American has got as much in common with a black Ghanaian as a Han Chinese has in common with a Tibetan. The last two are the same race but that’s more important to you than it would be to most people in China. People who come from far apart and speak different languages aren’t the same just because their skin is the same color
