I don’t think #4 has an inherently bad take. Obviously there is the huge caveat that America was founded with slavery. Not on slavery, but with slavery, but still. However, many of the ideas of the American Enlightenment (thats the term for the era of early American liberalism) were truly original and were good things worth admiring and pushing for. Patriotism genuinely can be a healthy thing when moderate and inclusive.

They’re right in the sense of there isn’t a strong concept of an American ethnicity. Obviously slavery was race based in this country. A lot of countries are founded around ethnic groups America is unique in that way.

It’s not mental gymnastics I would probably agree with that to some extent. You can just ask me what I think about a thing you don’t have to assume.
