it is a viewpoint that falls under eugenics, however it is a perfectly valid choice to make to choose not to have kids to avoid passing down a disorder. To believe that all people should be required to follow this standard is eugenics.

If you spend your entire life in pain because of a genetic disorder and decide to bring another person into this world KNOWING they are going to experience the SAME pain as you, I personally feel you’re being very cruel to your child. I’m not saying we need to make it illegal or anything, but I am going to judge you for being that fucking selfish. There are plenty of kids already suffering, who would love to be adopted. Like come on

Choosing to not having children yourself is different than condemning and shaming ppl for having children

I don’t think they are doing any of that. I think they just said it is “unethical” which is their personal individual belief and they do not say anything about other people at all

Why would I do that?

I love malicious wokeness where you refuse to actually have a conversation and instead just avoid ever talking to people you don’t agree with ever again

Also directly from OP: “guys I am not saying it should be illegal, that obviously opens up some MASSIVE problems. but if you choose to have kids knowing you'll pass down a disease that will ruin their quality of life, I'm judging the hell out of you sorry.” That last sentence is most certainly shaming and condemning

Yeah that definitely is shaming, you’re right. They also do have a valid point though and made it clear that they don’t want to force anyone to follow their belief

It’s not valid to tell people what they can and cannot do especially in regards to reproductive rights.

So am I not allowed to have an opinion now? This might be crazy for you to understand, but people can judge others without wanting to control their lives. I’m sure you judge people all the time too — you’re judging me right now lol. I’m allowed to have an opinion and so are you, the major difference is that I recognize everyone has a right to choose to do or not to do something. Me silently judging someone has zero impact on them

Why are you posting something on a platform where people debate stuff then?

I would argue that you are allowed to say that potentially causing your future child harm and discomfort is a bad thing to do. You are allowed to tell someone they shouldn’t do something when they could potentially do harm. Of course you are still definitely not allowed to infringe upon someone’s reproductive rights, but telling someone that something is a bad idea because it might cause harm does not infringe upon their rights

You are being blinded by fear of eugenics as a force against human rights. This is definitely a real problem that exists. However nobody has said anything that actually infringes upon someone’s right to choose. Nobody is calling for legislation that forces disabled people to not reproduce.

Even if I say that I will judge someone for their choices that does NOT infringe upon their rights.

I didn’t say you couldn’t have an opinion. But just because you have an opinion doesn’t mean it’s a good one.

Right, the comment doesn’t do that! It directly tells disabled people to not “pass down their weaknesses” so nice try
