And that was a great time was it not?

Yeah, because not all rights ought to be universalized and not all rights are inherently good just by virtue of being called a “right”. Not to mention, the state has no proper authority to dictate whether gay people can get married to begin with, as marriage was created by God for man and woman, not man and man or woman and woman

You act as if atheism is the historical majority, despite it being a blip on the radar of time, as after all even the pagans believe in the divine in some manner. Ultimately the Bible is the special revelation of God, but general revelation (that is, creation, I.e. the natural world and such) reveals much as well. Ultimately there are various arguments for God, which you can look into, but it’s the Word of God and the preaching of the Gospel that God works through to call His lost sheep

I never said that. There is plenty evidence, from the Hittite findings, the Roman and Jewish sources corroborating Christ’s existence, to the world around us and its creation, to even the many philosophical arguments. But let’s be honest here, I won’t be able to convince you here on Yik Yak, and you have no intention of truly searching to know and have no intention to ever change from your ways, at least at this moment here on Yik Yak

When I said Hittite findings I meant the modern rediscovery of the Hittites, but regardless. The only actually fruitful thing I can do is implore you to repent and believe the Gospel. “The way of an ignorant fool is right in his own eyes, But a wise man is he who listens to counsel.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭12‬:‭15‬ “For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭6‬:‭23‬

People, like you, depend upon logic and morality, showing that they depend upon the universal, immaterial, and abstract realities which could not exist in a materialist universe but presupposes (presumes) the existence of an immaterial and absolute God by which these things came into being.

Therefore, God exists. If He didn't, we could not rely upon logic, reason, morality, and other absolute universals (which are required and assumed to live in this universe, let alone to debate), and could not exist in a materialist universe where there are no absolute standards or an absolute Lawgiver.

Under an atheistic framework, you cannot know why humans have a sense of right and wrong, know that the sun will rise in the morning, and ultimately, know that you have any knowledge of anything at all. Under atheism, do you know for certain that you know nothing for certain?

Ironically, I am a christian, but I’m a deist and think that God can be understood through reason. I know God because I’ve had empirical experiences with Him. Whenever a church loses its way, he starts another one. He finally gave up on organized religion and gave us secular, democratic government instead. In supporting Christian nationalism, you do the Devil’s work of convincing mankind that they are more powerful and wiser than God. God is pan-national.

Why do you presume I’m a Christian Nationalist? To do so without evidence to support your reasoning would be irrational, to your view of things I presume, so why presume? I’m not a holder of the United States Nationalist theory, although I would argue that God is not pan-national. God’s chosen nation is the nation of Israel (not to be confused with the modern state) of which the Gentle Elect are grafted into. As for politics, I hold to a Compact view of the United States

Also, Christianity is not a deistic faith. To be a Christian is the same as being a follower of the Messiah (Christos is the Greek version of the Hebrew title Mashiach, that being the Annointed One, the Davidic King, El-Gibbor) and a member of the nation of Israel (again, not to be confused with the modern state). Lord Yahweh, our God, is fundamentally a personal and intentional God, and does not fit with deism, which would hold to a more impersonal god who stays out of worldly matters

I don’t think you’re using nationalism to its fullest extent but sure whatever, my God declares that there shall be no other gods before Him, He alone is to be worshipped. I don’t expect Islam to not see itself as the only truth, or atheism to see itself as the truth. They are simply put wrong

Interesting, I don’t often come across Hellenistic pagans. If it’s of any intellectual interest to you, the Bible doesn’t actually hold that all pagan gods don’t exist at all, contrary to what some think of Christian belief, instead it teaches that many do exist as beings, gods even (varies depending on the being, some are moreso powerful spirits), and that some pagan gods are mere idols of wood and such, it just depends. The distinction is that they don’t exist independently from God,

Instead that they were created by God (whom is Himself uncreated and eternal), and ultimately many of them rebelled and began receiving worship for themselves rather than directing it to God

Gay marriage enhances the ability for gay people to have happy, fulfilling lives, and harms no one. Being against gay marriage is decreasing our capacity for human flourishing. It is thus immoral.

upvote 2 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #2 12h

This is why I believe the Bible is a faulty source of morality. It does not create moral systems based on whether an action causes harm or promotes happiness and flourishing. Instead it’s entirely based on a list of rules. Hence you oppose something harmless like gay marriage, but the Old Testament simultaneously endorses genocide.

upvote 4 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #2 12h

1. Genocide is a loaded term, but the Lord God’s will is final ultimately. 2. You use harm and happiness as a standard it seems, but what is that grounded in? How do you quantify harm or happiness in any objective sense or even a moral sense, as that would imply a moral grounding in a non subjective sense for that to work as a universal standard

Suffering bad, happiness good. It’s a subtle system. Not perfect. But better than “here’s a list of rules from the Bronze Age which includes endorsement of genociding the Amalekites”

Anonymous replying to -> #2 12h

The Amalekites were wicked and the Lord of Hosts willed it, it’s not hard to grasp, although I know you disagree with it. As for your system, you don’t have any way, at least none you’ve presented, to explain what makes good a real concept and bad a real concept, and how suffering is bad and happiness is good. In reality, God is the ultimate standard, morality ultimately is derived from Him and His law
