The US has always been a facist country. Only thing is white people were insulated from it for the most part.

It can definitely feel like that, and that’s where our country is headed if Trump isn’t reined in, but I hope you can take heart in the fact that the courts actually have been monumental in preventing some of his worst overreaches of power and protecting citizens being targeted by ICE for exercising their first amendment rights.

while i agree we’re heading somewhere dark if the system doesn’t change, this is kind of an out of touch take. we are incredibly free here, more free than a lot of countries. we don’t know what true restriction looks like yet and we are very far from it currently.

It will be a fight this November because Trump will not concede peacefully, but he is the most unpopular leader America has ever had, and we will stand together against his administration and all of the bigots who voted him in. Fascism always self-cannibalizes, and we are at a very unique juncture in our country where outrage against the system is at an all-time high.

They’re quite fraught and corrupt right now, I’m not disagreeing. I’m just saying we’re seeing significant wins on the legal front that might be reassuring to OP.

What part of a corrupt judiciary is reassuring to you? Like I don’t care if the broken clock is right twice a day, I would rather have a functional clock

That’s true. But they’ve been blocking the DOJ’s attempts to seize voter rolls and implement the SAVE system. They have also ruled against the feds in a majority of the cases where they were trying to claim citizens were assaulting them (i.e. via vehicle ramming, etc.). Lawsuits are being prepared now in case Trump tries to declare a national emergency, and I have no doubt the courts will rule against him. I agree that our judiciary is corrupted and must be rehauled, though.
