Reposting because there is a compromise where people can still try all the cool guns they want without gutting gun control laws and glorifying gun culture I still think only one gun is necessary for self defense and it honestly shouldn’t leave the homeYou’re half right. Glorifying gun culture is weird, and breeds false security that leads to unsafe gun practices. And half right that realistically only one gun can serve all general self defense purposes. You’re incorrect in when you say they should be kept at home. It’s more likely one would need to defend themselves in public than at home (mugging, assaults, etc are more common than home invasions while you’re home). Just educate yourself on safe carrying practices FIRST
Typical range day sees a lot more than 3 guns even disregarding the argument that you would need a lot more than 3 for a humane kill on a wide range of species (sure you could do rifle, shotgun, pistol but unless you're specializing in squirrel you aren't going to pick 22 for your own rifle and may want to shoot a squirrel for pest control)
1) Only point the muzzle at something you are trying to destroy or kill 2) Always assume a firearm to be loaded and verify that it is not if you wish it to be unloaded 3) Know your target and importantly what lays beyond it (especially if using target rounds or other fmj/penetrator like green tip) 4) Only ever put your finger on the trigger directly before firing I stretched them out for greater detail but you could have said it in much less words
