Uncritical support of Israel, underestimating the impact of climate change, thinks we shouldn’t have a retirement age, thinks gay people shouldn’t be able to adopt children, downplays the impact of slavery, weird racist shit against Muslim people. I think it’s a very sad state of affairs that he is the more reasonable less bigoted conservative voice, but I still think he has bad opinions, just not as bad as Fuentes.
Benefits America like causing us to have 9/11 and radicalizing massive numbers of Muslims against us, encouraging terrorist recruitment and worsening our relations with Muslim-majority countries. And even if it benefited America, ethnic cleansing in the West Bank and killing children is bad. Shapiro doesn’t just support Israel he doesn’t criticize anything Israel does. You can be pro-Israel and think the West Bank settlements are a bad thing, but he doesn’t.
I honestly think the uncritical support of Israel is kind of driving people towards weird neo-Nazis like Nick Fuentes. It shouldn’t be. Opposing the Israeli government shouldn’t be involved with Holocaust denial and antisemitism, but lots of people are being drawn towards Fuentes’s anti-Israel rhetoric for the wrong reasons.
That’s pretty minor benefits in comparison to like the negative impact of massive global radicalization. And again, Ben criticizes nothing Israel does. This isn’t even about Israel existing as a U.S. ally he supports all the most expansionist radical policies of this particular very right wing Israeli government. Anyone can see the West Bank settlements are bad. That’s independent of the value or harm of Israel as a state
