oh dont forget trump is quietly making a national registry of gun owners to track them. ordinarily i wouldnt be opposed to that, but this administration is being authoritarian as hell across the board, so its pretty horrifying

Yes. That’s why people shouldn’t pretend owing guns is to stop “a radical government” Which you defended as an idea before immediately and suddenly claiming it to be impossible. Which you’re correct about.

My point was that people just assumed their stance on guns based on their criticism of why people justify having them. When people saw “you shouldn’t say you want guns to defend against tyranny when you aren’t defending against tyranny that’s right here” they took that as “don’t own guns” when in reality it was just “be honest about intentions or follow the fuck through and stand up”. When do we start defending against tyranny like we claimed we would if we were allowed to keep our guns?

It’s the only right that is treated like a privilege it’s really become a second class right. if you talk about any of the other rights the way people do about the 2nd amendment there would be more pushback.
