
The “issue” here is that the bar for defamation is way higher for public figures. Instead of just showing that this was false and damaging (like an ordinary person), he has to show actual malice (they *knew* it was false OR they were reckless — ignored red flags, didn’t do basic fact checking, etc.). The judge says he didn’t show evidence of actual malice. He didn’t rule on whether the reporting that it was Trump’s card was true
