Besides, the fact that morals do change over time only further underscores the necessity of updating a nations constitution to reflect modern values that have progressed since slave society

If you ever read some of the shit from abolitionists on how they felt about slavery and slavers, you wouldn’t be making this argument. Many of them had takes along the lines of (and I’m not exaggerating) “I would rather drag my nuts through 20 miles of broken glass and flesh-eating bacteria than spend even an instant sharing air with someone that owns people”
